Re Frederick: Personally I think #1 is the best explanation, after all it is easily to sell 1oz gold coins than 5 taels gold bars if you go abroad; also these gold coins are government minted and it is widely circulated everywhere in the world. in the event of catastrophe and you have to leave HK immediately, these gold coins are preferable than gold bars
You explained #1 much better than I did. #1 sometimes strikes me as counterintuitive to the idea of "gold is gold". IMHO, #2 goes with a robust domestic market maintained by HK's Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange. #3 is just my guess.

I think this is also the reason why HASE has not publish the quotes for BRA, EGA, GMA, KRA on the website for ages since they no longer procure directly from these mints; the only supplies are buy backs from other bank customers, that’s why occasionally we can get Gold Maples from HASE as these are more common coins among HK bank customers (BOC sells them too). Another question, I wonder if there are any statistics on these gold coins circulation in HK?

前排好似泰國都係咁。新闻话金價年頭升唔少，引致好多泰國人賣黃金变現，但金铺唔肯收，因为收返嚟運唔到出泰国。
香港就相反，香港人就屯貨，無人肯賣。
难道黄金价会有大转变？
實物買賣很視乎每個地方的供求，香港買賣黄金因為雜費很少，沒有稅，很多外國人都會來買，小弟在恒生都見過很多次。
我在6月22日打電話到總機，當時客服是說上頭落左指示話暫時唔會再有賣鴻運金幣的服務，亦唔知會否恢復。當時我有問是因冇貨，所以唔賣定係點？是否與以前一樣，冇貨所以唔賣，亦唔接受訂貨，佢話同以前唔同。

差價都是在數十至百多元
我認為都可以接受
現在到銀行買金幣一般都要戶口，如果沒有，可能要求登記身份證，防止使黑錢。
但我估計如果數量多，一定要有戶口。
上商買賣要戶口，金粒可考慮，但金幣spread太闊，無肉食。
投資還是買5兩較實際
請問各位認為應該用邊種睇法？
1 澳洲金幣比香港金條搶手（同揸美元唔揸港元既道理差唔多）
2 金幣係香港唔流通，而金條仍然流通（樓上所講金幣有價冇市）
3 純粹因為疫情所以銀行入唔到貨
我之前都去 LPM 買，恆生都收，無問題的。

actually among all these, EGA is ma favourite; the design is superb and premium is higher (probably because it is from US?)
