also i have something to ask, i want to buy silver, at a reputable dealer. But if given two silver bar, one is recognized (famous company) one is unrecognized(not famous) both are still silver. They weight the same, same purity, is there really any difference? Am i paying a premium on the more famous company (name) silver bar? Why dont i just buy the not famous company silver bar?
No matter which supplier, the only thing you need to make sure is the purity of the gold. If you buy gold and silver from famous supplier, the advantage will be fasten the trading progress when u sell out your gold otherwise it takes long time to check and test if it's real gold or not. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Also don't buy any funds as it just like you give money to other for gambling. All money should be arranged by yourself. The man who working for mutual funds just want asking you for handling fee and commission. If funds lost they won't give money back to you. Real gold and silver are much better then mutual funds.
Kidthief, I am not expert for testing real gold and silver. I just know the buyer will cut the gold coins and burn it for testing. For silver I don't really know how to measure. That's why I only buy Canadian maple leaf and American eagles from reliable supplier like kitco as this is world known and a easy medium for trade all over the world. Of course you can buy in 利昌 as other friends did here.
Anyone can tell us a way to test real gold and silver as I also want to know?
Or maybe you can order online and keep them in shrinks or via mat but not in bank. What u need to giving handling fee and you can keep your metal savely there. There is no any retailer in Canada??
Actually you need to pay fully insured shipment via some big shipping company when u order online. So I will be save. Of course you can buy from banks. See which one is more convenience for you!

亦在第三天決定去買些銀幣收藏,因為實在負擔不起黃金
依資訊內的地址去了利昌,KITCO和東洋
當時銀價30.66美元一安士,買了少量銀條和銀幣
雖然數量不多,亦算是踏出了第一步~~
在此先感謝各位
另小弟有些問題請教:
自從留意了白銀,發覺不少銀幣都很精美
不過不少紀念幣的成色都不是999/9999
例如925,這些銀幣有投資價值嗎???
當然它的價格比白銀的現貨價便宜一點~~
假設白銀的真正價值被釋放,情況又會否不同?

回alex，紀念性會較差，雖然在銀價飛升後，所有銀製品都會水漲船高，七十年代，亨特兄弟沖擊銀市一役，很多人就拿家中銀器變賣，但說到底，一定不及999或9999。

回覆刪除因為人類離不開fraud (政府的"counterfeiting"亦是一種), 所以實物仍然係最誠實可靠既資產, 用拜金/蠻荒等詞語似乎是貶低了相信及持有實物的人. (令我想起Joe兄說過那本關於人民幣的書, 當中的用詞差不多一樣)

其實我比較認同 Keynes 說黃金(本位)是 barbarous relic 的產物。你只要留意下那些財務產品/服務廣告﹐他們很多都是用金光閃閃的黃金或金幣等來做插圖。他們才不會用產品實物﹕一張張的紙上(衍生)資產作為廣告插圖﹐證明人的腦袋始終殘留拜金這總蠻荒意識﹐或者 DNA 裡面係有呢種蠻荒崇拜。

一用紙，就會大大減低d人既信心，因為大部份資產類別，如股票、債券、基金......都會變到一模一樣，咁d人就會好易咁看到實物與紙的分別，思維模糊化及偽裝手段就會失敗。
